New Beginnings

There have been a lot of changes to my life lately.

Most importantly, I married the love of my life in May. I had been dating Jeff for five years, and I had run across people who said "Well, it's about time." But the most wonderful part about that was disagreeing with them. I liked to say "It's time" instead. Jeff has a keen sense for knowing exactly when things should happen. In college, he knew he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, listened to his heart, and deployed for a second time. He knew the exact right day to propose (the day I quit the worse job I've ever had), and he knows exactly when to buy me flowers, empty the dishwasher, and nudge me in the morning to get out of bed. I'm so thankful that my life mate is my best friend, best roommate, and best partner I could ever imagine for myself.

The second big change is still a secret. No, I'm not pregnant. (Although now that I'm married and it's *cough* "possible"). I'll be happy to post what's going on very soon - I can't wait to share :)

Toasted Roast Sandwich

Tonight, I made Toasted Roast Beef Sandwiches for Jeff and I. They were so delicious. Here's what I did:

1. Cooked roast in crock pot with carrots and red potatoes. Ate a lot of it for lunch.

2. Dinner time rolled around and I sliced thick slices of French bread, buttered it, and broiled it on high until it was pretty toasty.

3. Put one thin beef slice on the bread after I took it out of the oven, put 1 or 2 carrots on top, put some of the juice that I saved from the crock pot, then topped with a good amount of swiss cheese.

4. Stuck them under a high broiler again.

Viola! Delicious and very easy. Would have been better if I had some cooked onions on top.

Also made Chex Mix "Puppy Chow" and Oreo "Reindeer Droppings" this weekend. Quite possibly the world's worst food names.

Love my time in the kitchen - wish I could be in there moore!

Motorhome Musings, Mister!

Good Evening, folks!

I write to you from the kitchen table/2nd bedroom of my parent's motorhome. They took an semi-impromptu trip to Rodanthe, North Carolina and I decided to join them. The weather has been beautiful, despite the threat of a late rain this evening. And with a license plate of "ITLRAIN" I guess you could say we're just asking for it.

I laid on the beach today in a nice little black chair, listened to my Ipod playlist, and enjoyed watching little birds run from the waves. I also watched little sand crabs duck in and out of their little holes. This I did not enjoy so much. Heaven's help us if one of those little guys ran up my leg.

As you may know, I have 13.5 different jobs that I have to go to everyday, and it has been so nice to sit, relax, and NOT work. The closest thing to work that I have had to do was work to get myself out of the car after dinner.

I enjoyed one of the finest "Steak Oscar" meals I've ever had. I finished off my meal with a Peanut Butter pie with Chocolate Ganache ... a-mazing.

Blog. Blog Blog Blog.

Blogging. Oh boy.

I had a Xanga site when I was in college. Remember Xanga? I was very good at keeping everyone in-the-know. I religiously updated it every single day. Well not "religiously" but, yes, everyday. Ok, well not EVERY day... ok look, I can't even remember if Xanga is what it was called and I definitely can't remember my password. But here I am ... blogging.

So, here's to new(-ish) plans to record random thoughts and dreams. Since you're here, I'll tell you why there's two "h's" on the end of "Smashh."

Or...

Maybe I'll blog about it tomorrow. If I remember my password.
